There are times when there is a possibility to offer independent mediation as an alternative to an investigation. Mediation can often be quicker if all the parties agree to it, but regrettably not everyone does and it cannot be forced on to people as the process will be likely to fail.
With mediation the Independent Mediator will take a brief from the client and then see the individuals involved separately to understand the problem. The parties can then be brought together at a meeting which is facilitated and chaired by the Mediator to bring the issues into the open for both sides and to help them to find a resolution which both parties can accept.
The outcomes of mediation can vary, from getting the parties back together to one party realising that they cannot under any circumstances work with that person. Whatever the outcome the Company will then be clearer about its choices and what they can do to bring the situation to a close.
