A serial complainant has made a career out of putting in claims to Employment Tribunals about 'ageist' job adverts.     He has elicited thousands of pounds from unsuspecting business owners.

 

Where an advert has been put in a local paper with words such as "school leaver" or "recent graduate" this claimant, John Berry, has put in claims to the Tribunal and then approached the indvidiual companies in order to come to a financial settlement to avoid Tribunal.  Many have paid !

 

Yes, this is discriminatory wording and is to be avoided.  However, the person making the claim has to show that they have genuinely been a victim of discrimination and just seeing an advert is not evidence of that.    Companies can run up thousands of pounds in legal fees, so where you get a Tribunal claim arrive do take advice before parting with your hard earned money.
