Newsreader Selina Scott is about to sue Channel Five seeking
compensation under the age discrimination law. Scott, 57 is claiming
she was lined up as maternity cover for Natasha Kaplinsky on Five News
but that Five went back on their agreement, discriminating against her
as she was too old.
In June Five News announced that
Kaplinsky would be replaced by Isla Traquair, 28, and Matt Barbet, 32.
A Channel Five spokesman said: "We do not accept this claim and will be
vigorously defending it."
